Hi, we are Andy and Stacey Jordan, owners of Oliver Henry Candle Company. Our home state of Alabama is one of the highest ranking in energy poverty in the U.S. We want to thank you for helping us to give back to communities who are affected by energy poverty. Every time you purchase a candle from us, you are buying light to give light to others.
Why Help?
Energy is what lights a room and creates warmth to allow a child to do their homework. A quality education is unlikely to be achieved without these basic necessities.
"Today, despite the existence of more efficient technology, energy poverty persists in America. In 2012, 15% of households in the US were below the poverty line and paid a disproportionate amount of their income to adequately heat or cool their home. In some cases, families are making decisions about whether to heat their home or buy food." (theenergycollective.com)
The map below, from Inside Energy’s Jordan Wirfs-Brock, utilizes information from census and federal energy data to show that energy expenses exceed 50 percent of the household incomes in numerous locations within the United States.
How You Can Help!
When you buy a candle, proceeds go directly to paying power bills of individuals in communities from the United States. We are in partnership with local churches to discover who is in need. Funds are paid directly to the utility companies of those individuals.
Thank you for buying light to give light!
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
